Foggy Notion

Foggy Notion is a hand drawn display font taking inspiration from journeys down the California coast, wood carvings, and Bay Area concert poster designs of the 1960s-70s.

I began sketching out a blockier version of the letterforms on gridded paper to give a sculpted feel, and then refined the forms in Illustrator, taking visual cues from the irregular knots in wood grain and the organic forms of hand lettering commonly found in mid-century poster art.
